Overview
Trakd ("we", "our", or "us") is a music social platform that lets you capture, share, and identify music from live events. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights around it.
By using Trakd, you agree to the collection and use of information described here. We keep this simple and honest.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly and information generated by your use of the app:
- Account information — name, email address, and profile photo when you sign up via Apple or Google.
- User content — videos, audio recordings, and captions you upload of live music events.
- Audio fingerprints — short audio samples captured during track recognition. These are processed as numeric fingerprints to identify music. Full audio recordings are never stored on our servers.
- Usage data — which features you use, content you interact with, searches you perform, and time spent in the app.
- Device information — device type, OS version, and app version for debugging and performance.
- Location data — approximate location if you enable event discovery features (optional).
Camera & Microphone
Trakd requests access to your camera and microphone to let you capture live concert moments and identify tracks in real time. We only access these when you explicitly initiate a recording or recognition session within the app. We do not record in the background.
How We Use Your Information
- To operate the app and deliver core features (feed, profiles, recognition)
- To identify tracks using on-device audio fingerprinting via ShazamKit and Chromaprint
- To personalise your experience and surface relevant content
- To send notifications about activity on your content (likes, comments, followers)
- To detect abuse and keep the platform safe
- To improve the app based on usage patterns
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Third-Party Services

- Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, file storage, and cloud functions. Your data is stored on Google's infrastructure. Firebase Privacy Policy
- Apple Sign In — account authentication. Apple Privacy Policy
- Google Sign In — account authentication. Google Privacy Policy
- ShazamKit (Apple) — on-device music recognition. Audio is processed locally on your device.

Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
Your Content
Videos and content you post publicly on Trakd are visible to other users. You retain ownership of your content. By posting, you grant Trakd a non-exclusive licence to display and distribute your content within the app.
You can delete your content at any time from within the app. Deleted content is removed from our servers within 30 days.
